With Google Adsense your feeds can be more monetizabe

In June 2006, I started to write a post under "One day RSS should be not free anymore ?". I had written 20 lines following the early success of Pageflakes, netvibes or iGoogle trying to understand their business model. So since all this time I had left as many other fallow imagining "that one day I will finish them".

The note began:

"The RSS sites allow content to be disseminated in a more fluid and on a wider spectrum. But how did it before for the content of a third site to another? We contacted the third site they were asked if we could have contained, it passed through the negotiation phase and then paying is the site's content was third on another.

Oldest will remember the famous screen saver Pointcast, which brought all the information you want after entering keywords on your hard drive allowing you to access offline to a lot of information and content that you did not use.

Today you see the orange logo you click the right mouse button you select properties and you copy / paste the link. You put in your favorite feed reader (Netvibes, Pageflakes, feeds readers or the new Outlook 2007 ... etc) and you have the contents of the third site immediately without any tampering. "

As all these words seem old and useless today for each of you but when I learn that Google was developing its programmes Adsense so I rethought the possible monetization of our feeds and hence this note. With effect from today you can through the Adsense program for feeds making money with your feeds.

With a valid adsense account, a valid feed and possibly a Feedburner account and depending on the configuration you may be generating new revenues.

So now your blog will have 3 types of feeds the classic one, the one with Feedburner and the new one http://feedproxy.google.com/BlablawebInEnglish-StephaneZibisBlog.

Your feeds are now fully dressed and waiting more than being clicked. What were reserved for certain users Feedburner is now open to all. feeds with adsense

We will therefore follow that in the coming weeks.

Iphone has paved the way

The Iphone 2 or new Iphone or Iphone 3G released in the coming days. The number of articles on the topic will be huge with benchmarks, enthusiastic and never happy people to exchange intently.

If there is one thing I can say is that since its release there is no more a day where I am not asked by my clients and prospects for a mobile application. Since its release, brands have finally become aware that their sites had other possible extensions that those "trapped" in computer screens and finally have invested heavily in this type of development. Iphone by its ergonomics, its applications and in particular its high performance browser has opened the way for all market players.

For users, the data packages have been democratized. The operators have included in their packages general public options datas that only professionals used in the past and yet so parsimonious. Given these initial offers data "unlimited" users do more thinking to take their mails, surf, chat, twitter, VOIP etc. ... accelerating the change of uses and the acceleration of mobility and ultra online presence. Manufacturers' historical 'motives have also gradually transform their bid, smartphones are available in several versions today instead of a single choice and often buggued in the past. The marks and pure player of the Internet have found new ways to extend the reading, win new readers, retain and disseminate Internet content differently.

Everybody has found his account and seized the Iphone. This emulation is rare and positive and I hope that the Iphone 2 which will therefore July 17 in France (but certainly available before with friends of friends) will confirm this trend.

Orgoo a future must have application ? (invitations available)

I was waiting Orgoo for a "very long" time. The very long time on the Internet is a ridiculous period in normal time (a few months) but the fact like Scrybe to have a web application which is a perfect subsitute tools offline makes longest our waiting. After therefore long months of waiting, Orli, one of the few that I read every day, sends me an invitation. What Orgoo compared to meebo or Gmail ?

Well Orgoo brings together at one point all your e-mail accounts and all your IM discussions. For me who have accumulated number of mail and messenger accounts is a boon to have it online. In addition to the possibility of having chat video is a plus that no other existing application does.

Neverthless I have noticed 2 major things that the Orgoo team will probably have to correct soon. The first is that Orgoo is incredibly slow when you have a lot of mails and another if we have two accounts on a single protocol that is not possible to make it work instantly.

If you are interested I have about 30 invitations to pass. Leave a comment or send me an email.

Twitter is down: how are we supposed to live without ?

These days Twitter is very slow or down. During all this time the twitterers instead being bored and finally move to something else, continue faithfully to send messages of 140 characters as the tennismen at Rolland Garros or Wimbledon when they play between the raindrops. These failures were due probably by all the applications recovering in one way or another flows from Twitter. Mashable has listed over 140 (!!!) sites or applications using the API which is totally amazing for a such young application.

So how are we supposed to without Twitter ? Well, I must say first that I miss something in not knowing what my friends or people I like their work who doesn't know me only through my nickname. The way to bridge this "enormous" "missing" are to multiply points of arrival of the flow of your friends. Thus using or installing several different applications (I counted for my part in my daily use nearly 10 ways to recover the flow between my computer, my phones, my Ipod Touch). We can say now that these ex Googlers have succeed in : we are all addicted. The new round (15 million $) will probably finance the new infrastructure knowing that in the same time Facebook also knows at this time many performance problems will invest nearly 100 million dollars for their new platform the last level for the real WebOS…

Tariq Krim left Netvibes as CEO

Coincidence or not after the note posted on this blog yesterday, Techcrunch today announced the departure of Tariq Krim as CEO of Netvibes. Even if he keeps a non-operational role, it's a key date for the founder of one of the most successful French company in the Internet in recent years.

Having the chance to discuss quite often with Tariq, I really have seen in recent months that Netvibes was now definitly launched. Whenever we speak there were new contracts, beautiful signatures from many countries. Netvibes contrary to received ideas heard and thus earned money.

This is surely one of the parameters that Tariq encouraged to take this decision. Others related to its eternal desire to move forward on new projects also probably reinforced his choice to develop from today. Netvibes is stabilized with Ginger, the open source platform for widgets launched what he makes now? His new blog available here will surely in the coming days filled with posts will shed light on these new projects probably still applications where nobody ever try to go.

Good luck to Tariq, see you soon and thank you too!

Netvibes, time for a pause ?

Ginger, the name of the latest version of Netvibes is now accessible to all users. Ginger gives a real social dimension and a participatory tool that can often compared with a business intelligence application by gathering at one point all the necessary informations to speed up decision-making through widgets.

Since its creation all the different versions of Netvibes have pushed the limits by changing our practices that we had on the Internet.

As the hyperlink in the 90's has disrupted the access to the Information, rich interfaces which allow to incorporate and customize its content, such as Netvibes, will be for everyone the means to transform the reader liabilities to active player and make the Internet more participatory and therefore richer.

Today in compiling the easy incorporation of widgets and social networks, Netvibes has crossed my mind to a real course since its creation. The site, despite a complex transition between Coriander and Ginger was sometimes down, is finding its "vitesse de croisière" functionally and technically. Perhaps, we suggest that developments will not be as powerful in the forthcoming months ahead to compile ideas for its development and that we will not immediately, I think, have the name of the next spice that Tariq and his teams have chosen.

Of course I would like Netvibes continues to grow up but after all these awards and all this work, we can say that everything went very quickly and eventually it may be time to stop a little in developing new apps. This period of stability of the application would be the ideal time to continue to grow let alone Netvibes at the option of the use of Netvibers.

A little "anecdote" that I have seen in writing this note, but that should not be innocuous the word "beta", which was in the footer disappeared beside Netvibes. A follow therefore while continuing to use Netvibes and visit the world of each other, here are some taken at random clicks (Tariq, Davos, Paolo Coehlo and a French singer Jean-Louis Aubert) and 10 tips to create one too !

After all these years I've decided to switch PC for Mac

I work for a few months with two different computers a Mac and a PC. I've installed Windows XP on the Mac, but I've still had a good reason to keep the PC. But I just see and try the latest version of Office for Mac and now I have the last answer I need to switch from one system to another. The last version of entourage in managing the mails is almost at the same level than the Office for Windows. If you addthis with Bootcamp allowing Windows to run faster than on a PC, Keynote presentations, the embedded camera, iPhoto, the keyboard, the weight, the shape…. Finally, I will do it.. I never thought that one day I can say that, but when the final version of Office 2008 will be released in January I will let my PC in a bag.

And if you want to win (you have to understand French sorry) hard drive, Mac Office 2008, mouse etc... you should click on the banner !

ninemillion.org a community for a cause

At a dinner post LeWeb 3, I met Hans-Peter Brøndmo, CEO and co-founder of Plum. But we didn't talk too much about Plum. We had a nice chat about another project ninemillion.org. Their gola is to provide an education for the 9 million refugees quantified in the World by 2010 . Community and networking are essential because apart from contributions to the blog everything is being done to build its own community by spreading the word through mini-boutons or other channels of communicaton available on this page to the information on this site. I therefore encourage you to put on your blog, if you have one, this banner or badge for this great cause.

Sleeping blogs versus boiling networks

Today one the majority of the blogs to which you were faithful were updated not often as you can expect. We thought that the summer holidays and/or the lack of time were one of the principal causes.

The principal reason of this desertion is in fact the very great activity of Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Viadeo, asmallworld.net. or the last Plaxo's feature Pulse.. Indeed each day I receive tens of invitations on these networks. Some are very precise and must be answered, the most quickly as I can, by a personalized answer. The summer helping everyone to up to date its address book and thus its network with all the tools at their disposal today. Our statistics will be low after these 2 last months and some previous notes asked about if we can be rich with our blogs. One of the answers is : some of them will still earn a lot but the all the others (99,5%) if they don't use their Facebook, Pownce, Jaiku or Twitter profile they will have for sure more difficulties to promote their blogs.

We will follow this and hope to continue writing in our blogs instead poking the same people on dozens different networks.
